Great stay with some hiccups
We had a fun two-night family trip! The kids loved the pool and arcade, a nice switch from camping. Breakfast was tasty-muffins and coffee were on point! But, the room could've used a good clean. The service felt a bit off when we checked in, kinda disappointing.

Breakfast coupon could not be honored after 10 am , place was empty, waited for a few minutes and left, expressed concern to hostess and GM. No effort to accommodate breakfast or make any alternative options. Will likely visit other facility next trip to Alpena.

the staff were very good. location good everything in the room worked.
no inside security darkening curtain only a pair of sheers. They had put up a small 2 foot piece of heavy curtain on a short rod. Light came in all nite. The meal though complimentary was only adeqaute, but the staff were very attentive. I would definitely check the room out before I signed in for any flaws. The room was cold despite turning the fan to high and the temp up as far as possible.

The building has charm, and my kids enjoyed the indoor activities. They always found something to do. I appreciated the friendly demeanor of the staff present despite the evident challenges they faced.
I was disturbed by a late-night gathering in the pool area. It was loud, and my room door was faulty. I also faced issues with amenities like towels not being available and breakfast options being scarce.

The room was very cold. I reported it to the desk. It seems that there was no one or nothing that could be done about it. They did offer extra blankets which helped The second day we came back to find the extra blanket just thrown on the bed. I showed the manager a picture of it. She did adjust our room rate which showed me that they care to have you back.
Forget getting the breakfast on any day when there are a lot of guests in the hotel. The hotel was packed, yet the next morning they were not prepared for the number of people for breakfast. They ran out of food, there were not enough staff to clean the tables, we wished we had gone elsewhere. They know in advance how many guests there will be. Get extra help!!!

Free served to the table breakfast. Pool area with mini-golf and other games indoor.
Basic, but nice.

Oh man, the chocolate croissants were to die for! They were flakey and buttery, a true delight! Plus, the pool area was a hit for the kids, especially with the jungle gym addition-total score for family fun! The staff were just doing their best under pressure, giving that extra warmth in a tough spot.
But hold up, the room was freezing, and they tossed us a couple of extra blankets that didn't quite cut it. And can we talk about faulty room doors? It reminded me of a scene out of a horror flick. Still, nothing could totally dim the sparkle of Alpena.

Breakfast was good and restaurant staff was friendly. The location was good, and the pool was very nice.
The bed had a large sinking spot in the middle, the room was filled with cobwebs and mold around the ceiling. Upon arrival we were notified that we would be charged $25 a night for our dog, even though we did notify we would be bringing out dog with us. We were given wrong room and had to ask to change, the front desk staff was clearly annoyed and not nice.

I enjoyed my stay while visiting local attractions. The indoor pool area was a hit for the kids, especially with the jungle gym, which provided lots of entertainment. The chocolate croissants at breakfast were delicious! The room was a bit chilly, and we struggled with a faulty door that made us uneasy. It was a decent experience that kept the family happy.
